What is happening with the Tariffs and Trade – Changes At The Speed of Light

If there is one take away from the past 2 weeks is that many of us have been used to Government taking its own sweet time to make changes.

Times have changed with this new Administration. The USA has never had an experienced Chief Executive (he learned quite a bit from his first go-round) who actually knows how to negotiate and shift in a split second. Interestingly enough, we expect this behavior from a CEO of a major corporation, but have come to expect substantially less from our own government.

So, what has the passed couple of weeks taught us. It is no longer business as usual. You have to be nimble. Diversify your supply chain or die. Develop suppliers in other countries, develop domestically sourced product, work closely with your forwarder and broker for alternatives. Those companies that can adapt to the new normal, and do it quickly, will survive.
